Spotify and Google Music are iPod and MP3 killers

What is Spotify?
Millions of tracks, any time you like. Just search for it in Spotify, then play it. Just help yourself to whatever you want, whenever you want it.

What is Google Music?
Discover, buy and share music, wherever you want, whenever you want.

Spotify and Google Music both offer a way to listen to music without having the songs actually on a device by streaming the songs using your carrier’s data plan.  Both also offer a killer feature, offline mode. What’s that mean? You can listen to the songs without using your carrier’s data plan (great for places you don’t have service at).  I use Spotify all the time at home when I’m on my computer which is about 98% of the day, then Google Music offline mode while in my car.  My car deck has bluetooth so I just connect my Android phone to my car deck, works great!

I was looking at an iPod today and realized, wow, with Spotify and Google Music on my phone, what’s the point of an iPod or MP3 player anymore?????

I have owned 2 iPods and each time I bought them was for the convenience of not using up all my storage on my phone with music.

A lot of kids want iPods for Christmas, but what’s the point when nowadays kids in middle school have mobile phones already?

Smartphones are becoming more and more valuable.  I can’t think of much things my phone can’t do.
