Unless you live at North Pole Afghanistan, you probably heard of FourSquare by now, right? Here is my genius idea.
You got all these location services that are starting to use check-ins; FourSquare, GoWalla, Yelp, Facebook rumored to be joining, Twitter etc.
There is no organization with the places that are listed. For example, sometimes when I check into FourSquare there is like already duplicates of the place I'm trying to check-in at. What if there was a universal database of locations where people can check-in to? I think it would be better if you check-in to a place with any app/service and it keeps track globally of all the check-ins. Then it can show what service you checked into "User X just checked into Blockbuster via FourSquare."
Instead of Blockbuster showing how many total check-ins it has just using the Foursquare app, it will show how many global check-ins from other platforms. This way we don't have a cluster of places to check-in throughout all the platforms and it's more organized. I think it would take a lot to get this all setup and for everyone to sync their databases but we might as well talk about it now before it gets bigger.
