I am really enjoying using Spotify, it reminds me of using Napster back when mp3s revolutionized the music industry. I think the Facebook and Spotify connection is a really enjoyable experience to find music outside of what I’m use to. I use to run a lot of hip hop sites 2003-2009 and knew all the new music coming out, lately I rely on Spotify.
Spotify in my car is what I need. Spotify has a very clever business model which makes their service free but offers premium features. For only $9.99 a month you unlock a bunch of features: Play local files on your mobile, Play music from Spotify on your mobile, Offline mode on your desktop/mobile, Enhanced sound quality, Exclusive content and Play Spotify through music systems.
Since it will probably be awhile before we see a Spotify car deck, you can hook up a AUX cable from your phone to deck (that is of course if you have a AUX input). Upgrade to the premium service and you can listen to music from your playlists using their app. One great feature I realized with upgrading Spotify is the offline mode. “This means your favorite playlists will always be there for you, whether you’ve got access to the internet or not. Great news for travelling on planes and trains, or lazing on a beach.” I recently moved from Colorado and the area where I live now has poor cell service which sucks for a techy like me. However, with offline mode I will be ok!
Music artists should really push their fans to star their favorite songs of theirs and help boost their popularity rating. Spotify’s top lists is the new billboard hot 100.
The only advantage I see from SiriusXM is their shows like CNN, Howard Stern, Sports etc. SiriusXM’s pricing is also a lot more than Spotify’s pricing.
I wasn’t paid by Spotify to write this, this is my own perspective. But wouldn’t mind a free upgrade from them
