How can you not be part of social media today?

I think it's really odd for people in my generation or younger, to have mobile phones where they can't check their email, get on the internet and oblivious to social media.

Do you find that weird or am I too much of a digital nerd?

The U.S. Census Bureau shows there are more than 6.7 billion people in the world and around 307 million are located in the United States.

According to Facebook's statistics

  • About 70% of Facebook users are outside the United States
  • More than 250 million active users
  • More than 120 million users log on to Facebook at least once each day
  • There are more than 30 million active users currently accessing Facebook through their mobile devices.
  • People that use Facebook on their mobile devices are almost 50% more active on Facebook than non-mobile users.

Based on these statistics, there are around 75+ million people from the United states (which is about 24%) that have Facebook. I am doing these numbers based on Facebook because it's the most popular social networking site in the world (yes, they have more members than Myspace).

I use my iPhone everyday more than just phone calls, I actually don't really talk too much on my phone, I prefer to communicate by text messaging / emails. Unless of course, the conversation is worth more than 140 characters via twitter or text messaging, haha.

I have my 10 year high school reunion coming up next year, I wonder how they will invite me? Facebook event invitation?
